Spirit's Page - Continued

Mom is also taking THAT OLD DOG DEWEY for a go-for-ride two times a week, and we other dogs don't get to go.  We are not happy about that.  Mom says it is for an Arthur-it-is treatment and that Dewey gets a shot every time.  We don't believe that  .We think that Mom is just being mean and treating THAT OLD DOG special.  One time Dewey smelled like pizza - and we didn't get any.  That isn't fair!

 

Mom lets That OLD DOG into her garden to protect it from rabbits and he falls on the cucumber and bean plants.  Mom says that between Dewey and the bad weather she will not get any beans from her bean plants.  She is not happy when Dewey falls on the plants, but she still lets That Old Dog Dewey into her garden.  He acts happy when he goes in the garden, 'cause he thinks he has something important to do.

 

Me and THAT UPPITY RED DOG don't think so.   Me and that UPPITY RED DOG are the ones that chased the rabbit the last time we went for a walk.  AND WE DIDN'T GET ANYTHING SPECIAL!  Mom just said "oof" when we pulled her after the rabbit.  We are the ones that scared the rabbit away - not THAT OLD DOG!

 

We don't like the special treatment and don't think it is fair.  We don't mind getting hamburgers from McDonald or pizza.  Dogs should get such good things all the time.  Especially when they are GOOD DOGS like me.  But Mom tries all sorts of things to get that OLD DOG to eat and gets upset when he doesn't.  Me and That Uppity Rede Dog eat lots - but that doesn;t mjake Mom happy.  IT IS NOT FAIR!

 

THAT OLD DOG DEWEY is doing nothing to help the pack.  He can't protect - he doesn't even bark anymore when me and THAT UPPITY RED DOG detect something dangerous and need to scare it away.  We deserve the extra food that we are eating.  But Mom gets mad and says "THAT'S NOT YOUR FOOD - GOD CORNER."   We go corner, but we have the full belly we deserve since we work so hard.

 

I told Mom she could take a picture of the squashed bean plants, but she said no.  I told Mom she could take a picture of THAT OLD DOG sleeping, which he does lots of.  But she said no.  Mom says NO way too much these days.

 

At least we are getting lots of good things to eat that Mom is making for us.  We should just get THAT OLD DOG DEWEY'S share since he isn't helping to keep Mom safe anymore.

 The dog-bush has grown up and the bees have gone away.  The bees like the pink things that Mom picked some of and gave to a friend for her party.  Me and Red were glad when the pink things stopped blooming and bringing around bees to play with them.I   got stung by a bee once and it was NOT fun.

 

Mom's dog Tippy, from the time before Dewey came, didn't like bees either.   She got stung by a wasp, and whenever wasps came around she attacked them to keep Mom safe.  Mom didn't like this, 'cause she is allergic to them.  So whenever wasps came around she ran in the house and let Tippy play with them.Sometimes Tippy would come when Mom called and go in the house, too.  Other times she would insist on protecting Mom and chasing the wasps away.  She got stung one other time, too.  Protecting Mom is VERY important.  It is the most important thing us dogs have on our job description.

 

THAT OLD DOG DEWEY thinks the times of year with the cold white stuff is the best time of year.  I think that that is silly.  White stuff sticks to the dog and then gets us all wet when we come inside - unless Mom remembers to wipe-the-dog.   She doesn't always remember to do this and we stay wet for awhile.  There wasn't much white stuff this year, so he didn't get to eat snow like he likes to do.He doesn't like dog hole time 'cause he gets too hot.

 

 

 

Sometimes I get hot, too.  That is because I am the BLACK dog, and being black makes me get hot when I lie in the sun.  Lying in the sun feels real good - at least until the dog-bush gets big, then it is hotter outside.  Mom calls the dog-bush "pee-on-the-knee".  Me and Red and THAT OLD DOG DEWEY think that is a very strange name.  It is a boy-dog name.  I don't like it since I am a girl dog.

 

When I get hot from being outside, I like to go down-the-stairs and lie on the cool floor.  Down-the-stairs is nice to be when it is hot outside.  Red likes the down-the-stairs, too, but Mom doesn't like letting that OLD DOG DEWEY down-the-stairs.  Mom watches THAT OLD DOG DEWEY real close when he goes up and down the stairs.  He does it a funny way now - he hops when he goes down-the-stairs, and takes along time when he goes up-the-stairs.  We don't sleep up-the-stairs anymore, 'cause Mom thinks THAT OLD DOG DEWEY won't hop down-the-stairs so good just after he wakes up.

 

THAT OLD DOG DEWEY is going in Mom garden again sothat the bunny rabbits know that it is protected by the dogs of the house.  I haven't seen any bunny rabbits in the garden or outside the garden.  I didn't see any last year.  Maybe Dewey is doing a real good job - or maybe there aren't any bunny rabbits.  Mom says Dewey has taken out a row of onions and three heads of lettuce.  I hope that that is a good thing.  It is good for dogs to do their jobs.

 

Red is working hard to keep the birds and motorcycles away while Mom works in the garden  .Before Red came I didn't know that motorcycles and birds were dangerous.  I am glad that Red told me about how dangerous motorcycles are.  I help Red keep them away.  I am not that sure that birds are that dangerous.  If they are, only one dog is need to keep them away, so I don't help.  I watch for other dangers while Red scares the birds.

 

We all are working hard this summer.  Even the Mom.
